Privateer Youth Sailing

WELCOME to PRIVATEER YOUTH SAILING

WE OFFER OPTI and/or LASER INSTRUCTION

An OPTI sailor must be under 15 years of age to participate in regattas.

An OPTI is a small single-handed sailing dinghy.

Age and weight are determining factors in whether you should sail an OPTI.

A LASER is a one-design boat with a length of 13 feet 10.5 inches.

A LASER can be sailed by one or two persons.

Generally, a youngster from nine to fourteen years old and weighing less than 110 pounds would sail an OPTI.

A teenager from fourteen and up who weighs over 110 pounds would sail a LASER.

Our well-trained staff consists of US Sailing certified Level I Instructors

and US Sailing certified Counselors.

Their goal is to make every camper’s sailing experience enjoyable and worthwhile.

You don’t want to miss this week of fun!

IMPROVING YOUR SAILING SKILLS, and MAKING NEW FRIENDS

at Privateer Yacht Club on beautiful Lake Chicamauga.

2012 SUMMER SAIL CAMP DATES

Monday thru Friday ~ 8:45 am until 4 pm

For Beginner and Intermediate Sailors

Session 1: June 4 - June 8        PYC

Session 2: June 11 - June 15    PYC

Session 3: June 18– June 22 *McCallie / GPS

Session 4: June 25 – June 29 *Baylor

Session 5: July 2 – July 6      *Flex Week

Session 6: July 9 - July 13      *McCallie / PYC

Session 7: July 16 - July 20      PYC

Session 8: July 23 - July 27      PYC

Session 9: July 30 - August 3    PYC

* McCallie/GPS: You may sign up through their summer camp programs.

*Baylor: You may sign up through its summer camp program.

*Flex Week: Sailing activity yet to be determined.

This may be a four day week of half-day sailing instruction. Check back for updates.

*McCallie/PYC: You may sign up either through McCallie’s summer camp program or through PYC Youth Sailing.

Choose the week or weeks that you prefer,

but note that enrollment is limited to the first 16 OPTI and 10 LASER sailors

that sign up per week.  Registration form below.
