CRUISING
FLEET NEWS
The
only real order of business, other than trying to shout your lunch order to the
waiter, was the proposed sailing schedule. Scott and Rob proposed a three part
series consisting of spring, summer and Fall races.
The spring and Fall series will tend to be one race per day, and will be longer
in duration than last years buoy racing. The summer
series will be shorter buoy races. One major change
to the program will be the addition of a skippers meeting prior to each race.
This is intended to help decide on the proper course for the days conditions,
and to help newcomers to the cruising fleet get a better idea of the courses to
be sailed.
The
other change voted on was the continuation of the
Each
racing series consists of six or seven Saturdays, which are scheduled around
regattas and other events. The racing schedule, limited to only nineteen or
twenty days total, will allow the fleet to pursue
other events such as night racing, raft-ups or cruises. There are already plans
in the works for a couple of special sailing events such as a “poker run”
and a cruise/race to Sale Creek. More ideas are sure to surface, so stay tuned.
The
Spring Series begins on March 18th with the St Patrick's
Day Regatta, hosted by the Flying Scot Fleet. Spring Series races will be on
March 18th and 25th, April 1st and 15th
and May 6th and 27th. The Spring Cruiser Regatta will be
held on April 8th and 9th.
Hope
to see everyone out on St Patrick's Day,
Rob Fowler
